Information Collection for tracking and customisation – Cookies

In order for my website to function properly and to provide you with a better user experience, it is necessary for it to use Cookies.  A Cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer by a website, to allow your browser to remember information about your last session on that website. Your computer only shares information in the cookie with the specific website that provided it, and no other website can request that information.  Visitors to the website who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browser preferences to refuse cookies before accessing our website; although the website may then not work properly.

My website may use third-party analytics services (like Google Analytics and the Facebook Pixel) to gather the above information for analysis and re-targeted advertising.

Data Collection requested from you

In addition to the electronic data automatically collected when you use my website, in order to provide you with a service or respond to any questions or queries you may have, I may request and collect the following data from you:
Contact Form: Name, email address, and your message. (Contact Form 7 Plug-in)
Newsletter Sign Up Form: Name, email address (managed by Mailchimp – their privacy policy is here)
Blog Comments: Name, email address, comment (managed by WordPress)
Shopping Cart billing details: Name, address (managed by WordPress/Woo commerce) is emailed to me by the website along with your order details.
Shopping Cart payment details: Paypal or credit card information is all managed by Paypal and I am not able to access it.  Paypal send me an email confirming your payment has been made.  They are fully secure.  Their Privacy Policy is available here.

My use of your data

I will use your contact details to carry out your order or respond to queries etc as needed.  I will not use them to send any newsletters or marketing info unrelated to your order unless you also sign up to my newsletter.  I keep any emails relating to potential orders or actual orders for three years, in case of queries or to see prior quotes for work etc.  I keep any invoices for seven years for accounting purposes.


My website is built with WordPress, and hosted by Siteground, has an SSL certificate and uses all their other modern security technologies to keep your information safe.  My computer is password protected, and has up to date firewalls, anti-malware and security measures.  I will follow this privacy notice and my data protection policy and use reasonable measures to store your data securely.

Your Rights

You have the right to ask for a ‘Subject Access Request’ to see all the data I hold on you.  I will provide you with a copy of this, will correct any mistakes in the information, and delete it on request if I am not required to keep it by law for a certain period of time (eg. Accounts information).  You have the right to complain to the ICO if you think there is a problem with the way I handle your data.
